Rens Feenstra wins WPT Amsterdam

From April 13 –21,  the Holland Casino Amsterdam played host to the World Poker Tour with several events on the schedule, including the much-anticipated Main Event. The tour stop kicked off with a DeepStacks event and was followed by the Main Event, which began on April 16. A total of 207 players posted the €3,300 buy-in to compete in the tournament, creating a total prize pool of €590,170. Rivers Casino and Resort Schenectady launches inaugural New York sportsbook

A little over a month after New York’s gaming regulator approved new rules that allow for the provision of land-based sportsbetting and Rivers Casino and Resort Schenectady has become the first to take advantage via the launch of an on-site sportsbook.

Opened in February of 2017 at a cost of $330 million, the facility run by Rush Street Gaming had already featured a casino offering some 1,150 slots alongside 67 gaming tables. The operator used an official Tuesday press release to explain that these have now been joined by a just over 5,000 sq ft sportsbook that gives punters the ability to place cash-only wagers on a wide range of professional and collegiate sports including basketball, football, soccer, baseball and ice hockey.

Scientific Games Corporation said to be considering Australian float

American land-based and iGaming behemoth Scientific Games Corporation has reportedly started discussions regarding the advantages of floating its global lottery business on the Australian Securities Exchange.

According to a Wednesday report from The Australian Financial Review newspaper, the talks come only a week after the Las Vegas-headquartered firm detailed that it was to investigate several options regarding a possible divestiture of its lottery and sportsbetting interests. The source explained that this dialogue is still thought to be at the initial pitching stage but may eventually lead to the launch of an initial public offering that could see Scientific Games Corporation bring in at least $3.7 billion.

Tabcorp could allow mobile live betting in Aussie pubs and clubs

Australian Gambling – Tabcorp is eyeing off an ambitious plan to breathe life into the ailing retail wagering section. The plan will see them install a WiFi network in pubs and clubs across NSW and Victoria which will allow patrons to bet on live sporting events on their smartphones.

Digital live betting is banned in Australia – meaning you have to make a phone call to bet on an event that is already underway. But under the proposed plan patrons would be able to bet on live events while in the venue because they would be covered by their gambling licence.
